Since 1970, he has dedicated to professional practice and the management of labor processes. He is  an expert and litigator in cassation especially in the labor field for more than 35 years.

He is a Joint or Co-Judge of the Labor Chamber of the Superior Court of Bogota and a member of the list of arbitrators sent by the Supreme Court of Justice to the Ministry of Social Protection.

Héctor has served as a business advisor in numerous negotiations of lists of demands and a member of Arbitration Courts convened to resolve collective labor disputes.

He was the Secretary of the Fourth Prosecutor’s Office of the Council of State, Regional Director of Labor of Cundinamarca and Bogota, and Magistrate of the Labor Chamber of the Superior Court of Bogota.

He was the first director of the labor area of the Legal Office of Colegio Mayor de Nuestra Señora del Rosario, an educational institution where he has also been a  Procedural Labor Law and Collective Labor Law professor, as well as a Procedural Law graduate professor.

He is a founding partner of Esguerra Asesores Jurídicos, now Esguerra JHR.
